BBC Radio 6 Music to mark St Patrick’s Day 2013

IASCA (Irish Association of Songwriters, Composers & Authors) and BBC Radio 6 Music are celebrating Irish music on Sunday March 17th 2013 –St Patrick’s Day of course!

On 6 Music, presenters Cerys Matthews, (10-12noon), Huey Morgan (1-4pm) and Tom Robinson in Now Playing @ 6 Music (6-8pm) will each be selecting a few Irish artists to play during their shows. The station will also replay their Sinead O’Connor First Time special (12-1pm).

BBC Radio 6 Music is one of the BBC's digital radio stations. It is available on digital media: DAB radio, digital television , , and in northern Europe through the Astra 2B satellite. On Monday 11 March 2012 the network celebrated its 10th birthday. 6 Music is the most listened to BBC digital radio station in the UK with an average weekly audience of 1.9 million. It brings together the cutting edge music of today and the iconic and ground-breaking music of the past 40 years.

IASCA is a new non-profit membership association set up to strengthen and promote the existing community songwriters, composers and lyricists in Ireland, and help music writers of all genres connect and support each other. PLAY IRISH is an IASCA project created to increase radio play for Irish Artists by working directly with radio stations.

So on March 17th tune into 6 Music, starting with Cerys at 10am, an interview with Sinead O’Conner at 12, Huey at 1pm, and why not put a request in for your favourite Irish song with Tom at 6pm.
