Tuesday, 20 March 2012 14:48

IASCA is delighted to announce that it’s the first regional station to work on the PLAY IRISH is Beat 102-103
Tune in to BEAT Breakfast from today, March 20th, at 9.35a, to discover the PLAY IRISH artist. This week’s artist is The Japanese Popstars

PLAY IRISH is about getting more music by Irish artists on our airwaves at peak times.  Radio, local record stores, local venues and local media all work together to highlight an artist every week, so you can discover more great Irish artists and bands.

‘There is amazing music coming out of Ireland right now. Radio is the best medium for artists to reach people. PLAY IRISH and our partner stations allow this to happen” says IASCA’s Sinead Troy, "the reaction in Galway, where we launched the project in October was amazing." We Irish know good music when we hear it, and PLAY IRISH delivers that music to fans!

Niall Power, Beat 102 – 103’s Music Director, host of BEAT Breakfast, and CEO Gabrielle Cummins, are thrilled to support PLAY IRISH, ‘Beat have always supported Irish music, both during the day and on our Sunday evening Irish Beats show where Rob O’Connor is well renowned for giving artists early support, and now PLAY IRISH brings the team together working towards the same goal. We’re delighted to be bringing this initiative to our listeners.’

PLAY IRISH connects the music industry in the Beat broadcast area and encourages everyone to work together.

VENUES involved so far are The Forum in Waterford, The Set Theatre and Hub in Kilkenny. Both venues jumped on board to support Beat and IASCA, supporting Irish artists.
RECORD STORES currently involved are Heartbeat City, with stores in Waterford and Carlow, HMV Kilkenny and the new Wing Nut Records in Waterford - all are ready to support great Irish talent.

PLAY IRISH South East launches on Tuesday March 20th @ 9.35am
