Cormac O’Caoimh

Cormac O'CaoimhCormac O’Caoimh is a singer-songwriter and classical guitarist from Cork. He is also a former member of ‘The Citadels’, who received critical acclaim on various releases over the last 10 years. His debut solo CD ‘Stark a Spark’ was released in 2007 and received glowing reviews. Cormac releases his new album ‘A New Season for Love’ on April 27, preceded by the single release of the title track on March 16. For this album, he re-united with Art O’Laoire and Eoghan Regan, who also were in The Citadels.

O’Caoimh has picked up some well-known admirers along the way including Ron Sexsmith and Tom Robinson (BBC) and has supported fellow luminaries: Damien Rice (in the Paradiso, Amsterdam), Declan O’Rourke, Josh Rouse, Mark Geary, Nick Kelly, Miles Hunt and Damien Dempsey to name but a few. He has also headlined in Edinburgh, London, Amsterdam and New York. His solo live performances vary between fast and frenetic indie-pop acoustic guitar playing, slower tunes heavily influenced by his classical guitar playing background and jazz influenced folk music tunes.

An admirable songsmith, each track from his forthcoming album ‘A New Season for Love’ contains a catchiness and accessibility at their core that outweigh any stylistic definition. Though he may be likened to the hypnotic Nick Drake, or the inverse Elliot Smith; it is his slow and gradual soft low-key vocal delivery that inspires repeat listens.

Niall Toner

Niall Toner

Niall Toner got his first guitar for his 11th birthday. Since then, Niall has played in, and founded, many bands, including Cork's Lee Valley String Band, The Sackville String Band and the near legendary Hank Halfhead and the Rambling Turkeys.

In 2002, he formed the Niall Toner Band, with Clem O'Brien and Dick Gladney. With the NTB, Niall focused on writing and performing only original songs and tunes, in a Bluegrass style, with an Irish twist. They have released three all-original CDs on Avalon Records, and have played throughout Ireland, Europe and the USA.

Niall's songs have been recorded by Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones, Albert Lee, The Nashville Bluegrass Band, Keith Sewell, and many others. His composition, a Real Reel, was featured on Grand Theft Auto IV, the 2nd biggest-selling video game in history.

Niall also presents Roots Freeway on RTE Radio One, and he has recently been signed to a major record deal with Pinecastle Records in the US. ‘Onwards and Upwards’, will be released in the Autumn of 2012, and Niall and his Band will be undertaking a US tour in support of the release.

All of The Niall Toner Band's music can be heard on the digital platform, Air Play Direct, and is available for download to Radio Station members. Also on APD, Niall presents a show called ‘The Roots, The Whole Roots, and Nothing but the Roots’.

Niall sits on the board of IMRO.

Marc O'Reilly

Marc O'Reilly

Marc O’Reilly is a singer-songwriter from Waterford. His debut album received rave reviews and he was tipped by Hot Press as one to watch. He is currently performing at Canada Music Week in Toronto and will be returning to these shores with dates lined up around the country.

Musically, Marc reveals himself as an excellent guitarist with fantastic fretwork peppered throughout the album. The songs on ‘My Friend Marx’ vary from gentle and touching odes to more orchestral affairs, unafraid to push the boundaries of the genre where necessary without losing the essence of a songwriter with his feet firmly in the roots of classic folk blues.
Marc's musical journey has seen him play across different continents following gigs in the US and Australia.

The Walls

The Walls

One of Ireland’s most respected and successful bands, The Walls were formed by brothers Steve and Joe Wall after the demise of their legendary, multi-platinum band The Stunning. They started their own record label Dirtbird Records and released their first album ‘Hi-Lo’ in 2000. It went Gold in Ireland on the back of good airplay and a helping hand from U2 who added them to their second, legendary Slane Castle show after the band sent them the CD.
The follow-up album ‘New Dawn Breaking’ went Top 5 and was amongst the top selling home releases of 2005. It includes the classic ‘To the Bright and Shining Sun’, which helped The Walls become a household name when it was used on a major TV commercial.

Over the following two years, the band played in France, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and undertook their first ever trip to Australia where Crowded House offered them lucrative support slots on their massive re-union gigs in Sydney and Melbourne in 2007.

In June 2010 they released a double A-sided single ‘Carrying the Fire’ and ‘Phantom Power’. A four-track EP ‘Bird in a Cage’ was released in summer 2011, containing two tracks from the album and two previously unreleased songs.

The band’s third album “Stop the Lights” took six years to complete and was released in March 2012.
