PLAYIRISH USA | March 2015
Wednesday, 04 March 2015 11:22

We are so excited to present to you our new project to support and celebrate Irish Music internationally - PLAYIRISH USA..

The aim of PLAY IRISH USA is to introduce more Irish music to our family, friends and the Irish diaspora.

Not yet officially launched to media, (stay tuned for more on that), IASCA has spend the last couple of months communicating with fifty Irish music media professionals from TV, Press, Radio & Blogs asking each one to choose just one song a month by an Irish artist. IASCA turns these choices into weekly playlists for international partners to share with their readers.

Our first partners are, the largest Irish website in North America. They tell stories about Irish culture, roots, history, genealogy and now music, and are a leading source for news and politics from Irish America and Ireland to over 2million unique visitors to their website every month.

Without further adoo, here is the first week of PLAYIRISH USA (you should be a registered user of Spotify to access)

IASCA and First Music Contact joined forces to deliver Irish music to European Radio professionals jetting in to Dublin to attend their yearly radio conference RADIODAYS 2014
Friday, 18 July 2014 12:25
We couldn't let all those radio folk come to Dublin for a conference and leave without some amazing Irish music, and who better to choose Irish music for radio, than some of our friends in Irish radio - a big thank you to:
Brian Adams – Head of Music at TodayFM
Aiden Butler – Senior Music Producer at RTÉ Radio 1
Amy McGarrigle – Producer Across The Line, BBC Northern Ireland
Ellen Cranitch – Presenter,  RTÉ Lyric FM
This is what we achieved:
1. RadioDays Newsletter | We convinced the RadioDays folk to send out a special St Patrick's Day newsletter to their mailing list of over 3000 radio professionals in Europe. The idea of the special newsletter was to promote Irish music to international radio in advance of St Patrick's Day 2014, and appeal to them to celebrate with us by giving them easy access to radio friendly Irish music of all genres! We have asked our friends at RadioMonitor to monitor any plays throughout Europe for four weeks.
2. The second part of this project was to produce 1500 CD's – the cost of which was met by IMRO, thank you to them!!– so that we give one to each delegate attending the conference (approx 1400).
We thought it would be a missed opportunity for delegates to leave Ireland without experiencing incredible Irish music currently being played on Irish radio.
3. Finally, IASCA and Music From Ireland/FMC had an Exhibitors stand at the conference (which didn't cost us a penny as we worked hard on making sure the conference had all the music it needed), again promoting Irish music not only to European, Canadian, American, Chinese and Australian radio professionals, but to our own radio stations who attended (two major stations wanted to know why they were not a part of the CD process!). It was also a chance for IASCA  to conduct a face to face survey with European radio professionals about how much local music they play!  It was so interesting to hear countries like Sweden, Finland and Germany playing 50% local music, just out of pride and support.
IASCA meet with the Minister for Arts
Wednesday, 13 November 2013 11:09
IASCA had a positive meeting with the Minister for Arts, Jimmy Deenihan T.D. and members of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, where we introduced the possibility of creating a uniform definition of Irish music in Irish broadcasting contracts, where multiple definitions currently exist. Our next meeting will be to introduce this initiative to the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland (IBI) and RTÉ.
